Former San Jose Sharks forward Teemu Selanne has become an American citizen.

The Finnish Flash has scored 1,457 points, the most by a Finnish-born NHL player. Selanne was originally drafted 10th overall by the Winnipeg Jets (Arizona Coyotes) in 1988 and set the record for most goals in a single rookie season with 76.

Selanne played three seasons, from 2001 to 2003, with the Sharks and had 64 goals and 67 assists in 176 career games with San Jose. Selanne is known for his time with the Jets and Anaheim Ducks, where he played 15 years over two stints.
