The San Jose Sharks will have plenty of cap space available to work with this summer, and it sounds like they’re going to try and be very active in the free agent market this offseason.
After being connected to him previously, the Sharks have, yet again, been listed as a potential fit for star free agent Mitchell Marner, who is expected to hit the open market this summer and leave the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Sharks, who had a tough 2024-25 campaign and will be trying to bounce back, could look to shorten their rebuild and make a push for a playoff spot as soon as next season, and signing a superstar like Marner could do just that.
Realistically, they may have to pay him close to $15 million annually to convince him to join a rebuilding team, but if he’s open to joining them and helping them get back into the playoff picture, they should be all over trying to bring him in this offseason.
