Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported on July 5 that the Seattle Kraken were willing to move on from first-round draft selection Shane Wright.

Friedman reported that player agent and Wright’s representative Kurt Overhardt said the Kraken had agreed to move on from Wright.

Wright was selected fourth overall in 2022 by the Kraken; however, his career hasn’t panned out with Seattle the way both parties had hoped.

There are five teams linked to Wright that could realistically be good landing spots for the forward.

1. Boston Bruins

2. Carolina Hurricanes

3. Montreal Canadiens

4. Philadelphia Flyers

5. Vancouver Canucks

All five of these teams could benefit from adding depth at center if they add Wright to their rosters.

The Kraken, however, are not willing to part ways with Wright unless they consider a fair price in the trade.

Last season with the Kraken, Wright appeared in 74 games, recording 12 goals and 15 assists.

In four seasons in the NHL, he has played 169 games, tallying 36 goals and 42 assists.

The 22-year-old has not seen the success the team had hoped for in the major leagues, and with five landing spots that could make sense, it may be time to consider the next destination for the forward.
