Seattle Kraken prospect Julius Miettinen has joined the Coachella Valley Firebirds on an amateur tryout, according to the AHL's transaction page.

The 19-year-old was recently eliminated from the WHL playoffs after the Everett Silvertips lost their Game 7 battle to the Portland Winterhawks. Miettinen finished the regular season with 11 goals and 39 points in 36 games and added another six goals and 9 points in 13 playoff games.

The Kraken utilized one of their two second-round picks on Miettinen, selecting him with the 40th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft. Nathan Villeneuve was the other second-round selection, and he, too, has joined the Firebirds.

Miettinen is listed at 6'3, 205 lbs, known for being a defensively responsible center with the ability to be a nuisance in front of the opponent's net.

The Firebirds began the Calder Cup Playoffs with a 4-3 triple-overtime win over the Calgary Wranglers. Although it's unknown if Miettinen will find his way into any games during his ATO, practicing with the team will be positive exposure. If he does receive some game action, his frame and play style should bode well and help the Firebirds on the defensive side of the puck.

The Firebirds are back in action on Saturday for Game 2 against the Wranglers.
