The 2025 NHL trade deadline is rapidly approaching, and the St. Louis Blues are a top team to watch. The Central Division club has created plenty of buzz in the rumor mill, with captain Brayden Schenn being one of their top trade candidates.

On Sportsnet's latest edition of Saturday Headlines, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman named two teams that are interested in acquiring Schenn from the Blues.

"For Toronto, it's pretty common knowledge they are looking hard at centers," Friedman said. "I think one player they are definitely, definitely considering in terms of both acquisition cost, and is there any way they can do possible retention, is Brayden Schenn of the St. Louis Blues... But I don't believe the Maple Leafs are the lone team in considering this. I believe there are others. One of them, although they haven't confirmed it, obviously, is Vegas."

It is easy to understand why the Maple Leafs have their eyes on Schenn. He would not only give them that much-needed boost down the middle but also provide them with a proven winner. However, the same can be said about the Golden Knights, as they could use another high-impact and hard-nosed veteran like Schenn in their lineup.

Schenn has complete control over whether or not he will be traded by the deadline, though. This is because he has a full no-trade clause this season, so he would need to give the green light to any potential move.

Schenn, 33, has appeared in 61 games this season with the Blues, where he has 12 goals, 37 points, and 151 hits. The Blues captain is also signed until the completion of the 2027-28 season, carrying a $6.5 million cap hit.
