Defenseman, a first round pick Friday at the 2024 NHL Draft was 16th pick

The St. Louis Blues have had themselves a busy Tuesday.

After trading for Radek Faksa and Mathieu Joseph in separate trades, signing Pavel Buchnevich to a six-year, $48 million extension and signing P.O. Joseph to a one-year contract, the Blues locked up a piece of the future by signing 2024 first-round pick Adam Jiricek to a three-year, entry-level contract.

The 18-year-old has spent the past three seasons with the HC Plzen organization in Czechia.

Last season, the 6-foot-3, 178-pound defenseman appeared in 22 games overall, including 19 with the top team and three with the U-20 team.

Jiricek is at prospect camp this week but is not participating due to a right knee injury sustained representing Czechia at the U-20 World Junior Championship.

Jiricek told The Hockey News on Monday he is not far away from resuming skating and is expected to be ready to play soon.
