This former Lightning forward is having a career season with the Flames.
Former Tampa Bay Lightning forward Blake Coleman played a big role in the club's back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2020 and 2021. He was excellent on their third line, providing secondary scoring, grit, and steady defensive play. As a result, it was a tough sting losing him in free agency during the 2021 NHL Offseason.
Fast-forward to today and Coleman is having a career season with the Calgary Flames. The Texas native has set new career highs with 28 goals, 23 assists, and 51 points in 68 games. Along with that, he has a plus-24 rating on a Flames team that currently does not hold a playoff spot. That is quite impressive.
Coleman, 32, is also not showing any real signs of slowing down, as he has two goals and an assist over his last three games. Seeing this former Lightning forward pick up his game so significantly is excellent, and it will be fun to see how he finishes off the campaign from here.
The Lightning could undoubtedly use him in their top nine right now.
