This former Tampa Bay Lightning forward will be sporting a new number with the Detroit Red Wings.

Earlier this offseason, the Tampa Bay Lightning lost Tyler Motte through free agency. In early July, the 29-year-old signed a one-year, $800,000 contract with the Detroit Red Wings. He is now expected to be a solid part of their bottom six as they look to take that next step and become a playoff team again.

On Friday, the Red Wings revealed the numbers for their offseason additions, and Motte is making a switch. Instead of wearing No. 64 as he did with the Lightning, Motte will instead rock No. 14.

Motte has worn No. 14 twice in his career, as he sported the number with the Ottawa Senators and during his second stint with the New York Rangers in 2022-23.

Motte appeared in 69 games this past season with the Lightning, posting six goals, nine points, 97 hits, and a minus-8 rating. It will now be intriguing to see what kind of season he puts together with the Red Wings from here.
