Alex Barre-Boulet is staying with the Tampa Bay Lightning organization, as he has cleared waivers.
At this juncture, the team has not officially announced that Barre-Boulet is being reassigned to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League (AHL). However, now that he has cleared waivers, he can be sent down to the AHL freely.
Barre-Boulet, 26, has appeared in 36 games this season with the Lightning, where he has six goals, nine points, and a minus-9 rating. Before his waiver placement, he had been struggling mightily, as he had zero points in his last 10 games and just one point in his previous 15 contests.

While it seemed possible that a club could take a flier on Barre-Boulet due to his immense success at the AHL level and cheap cap hit, he is staying put. That is not a bad thing for Tampa, as he will continue to be a serviceable depth forward for them.
