The Tampa Bay Lightning have made a move, as they have signed goaltender Harrison Meneghin to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Meneghin was selected by the Lightning with the 206th overall pick of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. Based on his play this season in the WHL, this is a decision that the Bolts must be very happy about.
Meneghin appeared in 35 regular-season games with the Medicine Hat Tigers in 2024-25, posting a 23-9-2 record, a .901 save percentage, and a 2.56 goals-against average. However, he has most notably been excellent for the Tigers this post-season, posting a 14-1 record, a .906 save percentage, and a 2.35 goals-against average. With this, the Tigers won the WHL Championship, and Meneghin was named MVP of the WHL playoffs.
Given how strong Meneghin has played this post-season for the Tigers, it is entirely understandable that the Lightning have worked quickly to sign him to his entry-level contract. The promising youngster will now look to stay hot for the Tigers when the Memorial Cup tournament begins for them later this week.
Meneghin has recorded a 69-42-8-3 record, a .910 save percentage, and a 2.68 goals-against average in 126 career WHL careers split between the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Medicine Hat.
