The Tampa Bay Lightning have announced that they have signed defenseman Max Crozier to a three-year contract extension, which will kick in during the 2025-26 season. He will have an average annual value of $775,000.
Crozier's previous contract ended at the completion of the 2024-25 season, and he could have become a restricted free agent this off-season. However, that now will not be happening with the Lightning signing him to this multi-year contract extension.
Crozier played in five games with the Lightning this season, where he recorded zero points, six blocks, 11 hits, and an even plus/minus rating. He spent the majority of the campaign in the AHL with the Syracuse Crunch, however, posting new career highs with nine goals, 25 assists, and 34 points in 52 games.
In 18 career NHL games over two seasons with the Lightning, Crozier has recorded two assists, 27 hits, and a minus-2 rating. The potential for him to hit that next level and become a full-time NHL blueliner with the Lightning is there. It will be fascinating to see if he can become just that with the Lightning after landing this new deal from here.
