Here's what to expect from the new guys in Tampa Bay.
The Tampa Bay Lightning may not have landed Noah Hanifin before the trade deadline, but they still improved their roster. Winger Anthony Duclair and defenseman Matt Dumba joined the club, and they already made positive impacts. Here's what Tampa is getting with each player.
Duclair has all the makings of being a strong addition to the Lightning's middle six. The skilled winger has had plenty of success in the NHL and will surely give the Lightning more secondary scoring, which is an absolute necessity.
What's more encouraging about Duclair is that he's been heating up lately. Over his last five games, he has six goals and 10 points. He also fit in nicely during his first game with Bolts, scoring a goal and adding an assist.
Duclair has also had plenty of success in the playoffs, and that only helps add to his overall appeal.
While Matt Dumba isn't a top-pairing defenseman like Hanifin, he still should be a good pickup for the Lightning. When looking at the Lightning's right side, it was clear that they needed a boost, and now they have gotten that with Dumba.
When playing at his best, Dumba plays a strong all-around game. He is steady defensively, provides plenty of physicality, and can chip in a bit offensively. Now that he is playing for a far better Lightning club, he has the potential to be a more prominent force offensively.
Overall, the Lightning needed help on their blue line, and this Dumba addition has given them that. He has the potential to be a nice little steal for Tampa Bay, especially when noting that they only gave up a 2027 fifth-round pick to get him.
