This Lightning defenseman's breakout season got even better last night.
Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Darren Raddysh has been such a feel-good story this season. The longtime AHL defenseman has cemented his place on the Lightning's blue line this campaign because of his offensive contributions and overall steady play. However, what he did last night against the Philadelphia Flyers was easily the most impressive moment of not only his breakout season but also his entire career thus far.
Raddysh, 28, played a significant role in the Lightning's 7-0 win over the Flyers, posting five assists. With this monstrous performance, he set a Lightning record for most assists by a defenseman in one game.
Per NHL Public Relations, some notable defensemen who have had five assists in one game since the 1998-99 season include Roman Josi, Kris Letang, Adam Fox, and Dion Phaneuf. That is very good company to be with.
With this great offensive performance, Raddysh has four goals to go along with 26 points in 65 games this season. It is hard not to be impressed with what the Toronto native has provided thus far, and it will be intriguing to see how the rest of this campaign goes for him.
