The Tampa Bay Lightning are likely to have one of their top defensemen back once they return from the break.

The 2024 NHL All-Star Game has now been played, which means that regular-season games will soon return. The Tampa Bay Lightning's break ends on Feb. 7 when they face off against the New York Rangers. It also appears that they will be getting a massive boost for the contest.

Per Eduardo A. Encina, star defenseman Mikhail Sergachev skated on the Lightning's second power-play unit at today's practice (Feb. 5), which indicates that there's a good chance that he will be back in the lineup against the Blueshirts.

Sergachev, 25, last played for the Lightning during their Dec. 19 contest against the St. Louis Blues. He suffered a lower-body injury and was limited to only 4:31 of ice time because of it. Yet, after being out for a month and a half, he is ready to go.

The Lightning are currently one of the many teams fighting for a playoff spot in the immensely competitive Eastern Conference. Getting back one of their best defensemen will certainly be helpful in their quest to do so.

In 33 games this season, Sergachev has two goals and 19 points.
