The 25-year-old leads the NHL in pre-season points with two goals and four assists in three games.
Conor Timmins' great pre-season run looks to have hit a snag following Friday's game in Montreal.
The 25-year-old defenceman took a hit late in the third period on Friday, resulting in a lower-body injury, said head coach Sheldon Keefe on Saturday. He's having an MRI today, but Keefe says Timmins will miss "some time."
Timmins has had an impressive pre-season, scoring two goals and four assists in three games to lead the NHL in pre-season points. He had another strong game on Friday against the Canadiens where he was involved in plenty of offensive scoring chances.
According to The Athletic's Joshua Kloke, Timmins was seen wearing a knee brace following Friday's game in Montreal.
His game had transformed after being acquired by Toronto early last season in a trade with the Arizona Coyotes.
The 25-year-old signed a two-year, $1.1 million AAV deal with the Maple Leafs in early February. Following the NHL's trade deadline this past spring, Timmins worked with Toronto's development staff to work on his game for the upcoming season.
He had 14 points in 25 games last season after being acquired by the Maple Leafs. Timmins was drafted in the second round (32nd overall) in the 2017 NHL Draft by the Colorado Avalanche.
