Woll expressed his gratitude to the fans of Leafs Nation on Instagram Wednesday, reflecting on the season and eagerly anticipating the start of the 2024-25 campaign.

After a bitter ending to his season due to an injury suffered in Game 6 and the Toronto Maple Leafs' opening-round loss to the Boston Bruins, goaltender Joseph Woll took to Instagram on Wednesday to thank fans for their support throughout the season and express his excitement for the 2024-25 campaign.

“A big thanks to all the @mapleleafs fans out there for your support this season! … already looking forward to next year,” Woll captioned the post.

The carousel featuring seven images showcased some of the highlights of his season, plenty of celebratory goalie hugs, and the best moments from the club’s matchup against the Bruins. Pictured in the first photo of the image was pending unrestricted free agent Max Domi, who reposted the post on his Instagram story paired with a heart and fist pump emoji while tagging Woll.

Under the post itself, Domi was one of the many commenters voicing their appreciation for Woll. It’s no secret that the 25-year-old, nicknamed the “Brick Woll”, enjoys playing the piano, leading Domi to combine a brick wall, piano, and heart emoji in the comment section. Others added, “Big things ahead”, “You’re a beast” and “Hope you get healed up for next season!”

And that’s been the biggest question for Woll, can he stay healthy? The former third-round pick has suited up in the blue and white in just 39 NHL games over the past three seasons due to his inability to stay healthy.

Woll went 2-0 with a .86 goals against average and a .964 save percentage in the playoffs before suffering a SI Joint Sprain, a sprained back in Game 6. Injuries have plagued the young goaltender in ‘21, ‘22, ‘23, and ‘24, suffering numerous injuries, most notably to his shoulder, ankle, and back.

With a proven history, dependability is at the forefront of the Leafs’ goaltending situation going forward.

“I've got faith in Joe,” general manager Brad Treliving stated at the club’s end-of-season media availability. “The biggest question with Joe is he's gotten injured a lot. We have to dig into that.”

Woll is under contract with the Leafs through the 2024-25 season with a cap hit of $766,667 before he becomes a restricted free agent (RFA) in 2025-26. As both Ilya Samsonov and Martin Jones are set to become unrestricted free agents this summer, the organization will be in search of restructuring a strong goalie tandem to be paired with Woll going forward.
