The event, scheduled for August 22nd, will feature Keefe as a virtual speaker in a hybrid format.
Following his departure as head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Sheldon Keefe quickly secured a new position in the NHL, signing a four-year contract to become the next head coach of the New Jersey Devils.
Ahead of his first season in New Jersey, Keefe is set to share his expertise on a different facet of the game—team culture and mental performance.
Keefe will be a featured speaker at the upcoming “Elite Team Culture and Mental Performance Training Camp,” a hybrid event that will take place on August 22nd from 4:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. EST. The event, hosted by Time and Space Athlete: Mental Performance, will take place at the Oakville Convention Centre in Oakville, Ontario, and will offer both virtual and in-person presenter options.
Keefe, who will be speaking virtually, took to social media (‘X’) to express his enthusiasm for the event, writing, “A great opportunity here for anyone looking to learn about and grow in the mental performance space put together by my friend, Riley Watson on August 22nd.”
As highlighted in a separate post, the event will feature interactive discussions, videos, and workbook activities. Regarding Keefe, his “success story, from leading the Toronto Marlies to a Calder Cup championship to his achievements with the Maple Leafs, will speak on the importance of team culture, mindset and the mental game,” as written on the event’s website.
After five seasons as the Leafs’ head coach – his first NHL coaching role – Keefe was relieved of his duties on May 9 following the team’s first-round playoff series loss to the Boston Bruins. The 43-year-old compiled a record of 212-97-54, with a 16-21 postseason record. Despite making the Stanley Cup Playoffs in all five seasons, the team only advanced past the first round once. Keefe holds the Leafs' all-time highest points percentage as a head coach (.665).
