Woll took to the ice for the Maple Leafs' morning skate, but isn't "anywhere close" to returning to consideration for game action.

Joseph Woll is nearing a return at some point in February. So who should get a majority of the starts in goal when he returns?moreVideos

Joseph Woll took to the ice with his teammates at Scotiabank Arena on Monday morning, which is yet another step in his recovery process. However, he's still a ways away from game action with the Maple Leafs.

The 25-year-old has been working his way back from a high-ankle sprain he suffered in early December.

On Monday, Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe gave an update on the 25-year-old goaltender's health following Toronto's optional morning skate. But it doesn't appear he will see game action until mid-to-late February.

"Obviously, getting out on the ice today and then kind of getting more involved in practices, the timelines that we were given, he's on track for, which is sort of the middle of this month to getting back into more full involvement," Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe said following Toronto's morning skate on Monday.

"So we're just kind of taking it a day at a time as we work towards that. But, at this point, he's not anywhere close to us considering him for game action. He's more so ramping up towards full participation in practice, and then, making a determination on his plan from there."

Woll suffered a high-ankle sprain in the third period of a game against the Ottawa Senators on Dec. 7.

He appeared in 15 games before suffering the injury, posting a 8-5-1 record and a .916 save percentage. The Maple Leafs' goaltender is locked up for another season after this one, carrying just a $766,667 cap hit before becoming a restricted free agent on July 1, 2026.
