'Keep Your A** Shut': Former Maple Leafs Goaltender Ilya Samsonov Responds to Senators' Linus Ullmark in Now-Deleted Instagram Comments

Samsonov left two comments under an Instagram post that pegged Linus Ullmark as the NHL's 10th-best goaltender, per NHL Network.

The Maple Leafs made long-term commitments to Chris Tanev and Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Is it enough to remake the look and feel of Toronto's defense?

Former Maple Leafs and now Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Ilya Samsonov has Oct. 21 marked on his calendar and not for a reason you might think.

In mid-June, Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark appeared on Leafs Morning Take and discussed the choice made by then-Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe to keep Samsonov, who struggled at times, in the net for their series against the Boston Bruins versus going to Joseph Woll.

"I was surprised that they kept Samsonov in for that many games against us in the playoffs," Ullmark said.

"I felt that every time we played the Leafs and he (Joseph Woll) was in net, it felt like it was more of a challenge even though I’m not a player. Just watching him, it looked like he was in so much more control of the situation that was thrown at him."

On Sunday, @nhl.discussion posted a graphic on Instagram highlighting the NHL Network's picks for the top 10 goalies in the NHL. Ullmark, who appeared in one game for Boston during the first-round series against Toronto, was ranked 10th.

In the comment section below the post, Samsonov's Instagram account can be found saying, "#10❤️" before adding another comment below his original message.

"November 21, keep your a** shut) or are you injured again?" Samsonov commented.

The goaltender is referring to the Golden Knights and Senators' game in Ottawa on Nov. 21, which now could be the host of some fireworks. Ullmark, being the Senators' number-one goaltender, will likely start that game, but whether Samsonov plays will remain a mystery until closer to the day.

Samsonov's comments appear to have since been deleted from the post. Could it be possible that he meant to respond to the comment from a burner account?

The Russian-born goaltender had a .905 save percentage in 82 games with the Maple Leafs before signing a one-year, $1.8 million contract with the Golden Knights on July 1.
