The Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender was injured on Thursday during the team's 4-3 win against the Ottawa Senators.
The Toronto Maple Leafs knew they'd be without Joseph Woll in the short term. Now they have a better idea of how long they might be without their goaltender.
The club announced on Saturday morning that Woll will be out week-to-week with a high ankle sprain.
Woll was injured in the third period of the club's 4-3 victory against the Ottawa Senators. After making a save on Senators forward Rourke Chartier in the third period, Woll stayed on the ice and had to be helped off by teammates.
Martin Jones came on in relief of Woll and subsequently made his Maple Leafs debut.
Woll was making his fifth consecutive start in goal and had supplanted Ilya Samsonov as the go-to goaltender as of late until this injury took place. He has an 8-5-1 record in 15 games this season while posting a .916 save percentage.
Ilya Samsonov will get the nod in goal against the Nashville Predators on Saturday. The Russian goaltender has struggled this season with a 4-1-3 record and an .878 save percentage.
