Bertuzzi will not be available tonight, says Keefe. Giordano will be a healthy scratch for the second straight game.
It's always an entertaining game when the Maple Leafs take on the Winnipeg Jets. And it'll be no different on Wednesday night inside Scotiabank Arena.
Toronto is coming off a Western Canada and Seattle road trip which saw them win two of their four games on the road. In their last 10 games, the Maple Leafs are 5-4-1.
The Jets have been one of the NHL's top teams this season and are the number one team in the Central Division with 64 points, 10 more than the Maple Leafs have at this point in time.
"We're looking forward to competing against one of the league's best here," Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe said on Wednesday morning.
Winnipeg is coming off a 4-1 loss to the Boston Bruins on Monday, just their second loss in the last 10 games. With that being said, what's the biggest challenge for Toronto on Wednesday against this Jets team?
"Just getting to their net," Keefe said. "Getting access to the net, getting access to the zone. They also do a lot of really good things on offense, too. They're good with the puck and they put pressure on you in your own zone."
Starting in net for Toronto is Ilya Samsonov. He's coming off a massive win where he stopped 16 of 17 shots in a 3-1 win against the Seattle Kraken. In terms of lineup changes, Mark Giordano will be a healthy scratch for the second straight game with Conor Timmins remaining in the Maple Leafs' lineup.
Tyler Bertuzzi will also be out of the lineup on Wednesday, says Keefe. He and his wife are expecting their second child.
Down at the other end of the rink, it'll be Laurent Brossoit in net for Winnipeg, per the Winnipeg Free Press' Ken Wiebe. He has a 7-3-1 record this season with the Jets, posting a .923 save percentage in that span.
For those in Canada, the game will be broadcasted nationally on Sportsnet. In the United States, the game can be found on ESPN+. The rest of the world can catch the game on NHL Live.
Puck drop is scheduled for just after 7:00 p.m. ET.
