Maple Leafs forward Max Domi is out indefinitely after undergoing a procedure to address an off-season issue he battled through during a challenging 2025-26 season.
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Monday that forward Max Domi is out indefinitely after undergoing a procedure to address an issue that stemmed from the 2025-26 regular season, resulted in complications.
The team confirmed the news via their official channels, with Domi focusing on his recovery. While specifics of the medical situation were not disclosed, it was serious enough to warrant a statement and a re-evaluation that will not take place until training camp opens in four months.
Domi, 31, recorded 12 goals and 24 assists for 36 points in 80 games, along with a minus-29 rating and 95 penalty minutes. His ice time averaged 14:53 per game.
Domi is signed through 2027-28 on a four-year, $15-million deal with a $3.75-million cap hit. Two years remain on his deal.
This news comes amid a roster that saw other injury concerns, including Auston Matthews’ earlier knee surgery. Matthews is expected to make a full recovery.
Domi often played in the third-line center role with the Leafs. There were questions going into last year about how deep the club was up the middle and it’s one of several issues for new management to tackle this season.
