According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, a migraine issue has led to difficulties in pinpointing the exact cause of Nylander's absence in the postseason.

William Nylander's absence from the Toronto Maple Leafs lineup during the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs is becoming a bit clearer.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Nylander is dealing with a migraine issue that was severe enough to the point that team doctors tested the talented forward to see if he suffered a concussion.

According to multiple reports, Nylander began experiencing symptoms when he woke up following the team's regular season ending game against the Tamp Bay Lightning last week.. According to Friedman, there is hope he will play in Game 4.

In the fall of 2022, Nylander indicated that he had switched to a tinted visor after experiencing migraine.

Speculation ran rampant when the forward did not skate during the club's first practice of the playoffs last week. The Leafs refused to share any information Nylander's availability for the postseason.

UPDATE: During his media availability on Thursday, Keefe was asked if he would confirm Friedman's report.

"We made it clear at the beginning we're not going to comment on whether it's Willy or any other player on their status or their situation at this time of year," Keefe said. "But obviously we've been working with Willy to give him the time that he needs to be ready to play and the medical team works with him on a daily basis to see where he's at and continue to assess that."
