Joseph Woll was back on the ice again, but based on what we saw it doesn't look like the goaltender is anywhere close to returning to action.

Woll was on the ice with goaltending coach Curtis Sanford and spent a few minutes doing some side-to-side movement on the ice. But just as quick as he got on the ice, he quickly departed without taking any shots.

Woll is currently on injured reserve and was expected to be in the lineup for last week's season opener against the Montreal Canadiens, but the goaltender was unexpectedly placed on injured reserve with lower-body tightness.

Following practice, Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube expressed optimism in Woll's progress.

"He's improving. You know, I think he went out there again on the ice today," Berube said. "No issues after yesterday on the ice, which is great news. There's a good chance he could be with us in practice tomorrow morning.

The Leafs won't practice on Wednesday, but will hold an optional skate ahead of their game against the Los Angeles Kings later in the evening.
