Toronto's coaching staff for next season will consist of Sheldon Keefe, Dean Chynoweth, Manny Malhotra, Guy Boucher, and Mike Van Ryn.
The Maple Leafs have completed their coaching staff.
Toronto announced on Thursday morning that the team has hired Guy Boucher and Mike Van Ryn as assistant coaches.
"One of my goals every offseason is to put together the best staff possible to help give us the greatest opportunity for team success," Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe said in a statement.
"With Spencer Carbery's departure to become the head coach of the Washington Capitals, I'm thrilled to add experienced and accomplished coaches like Guy and Mike, as well as how the roles and responsibilities will now be shared amongst our coaching staff moving forward."
Boucher was previously the head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning from 2010-2013. The 51-year-old also coached the Ottawa Senators from 2016-2019. He led both teams to the Eastern Conference Finals once (Lightning in 2011, Senators in 2017).
Boucher had serious discussions with the Maple Leafs in 2015 for their head coaching job. However, Toronto eventually hired Mike Babcock instead.
The 51-year-old has also won two gold medals with Team Canada. He won his first as an assistant coach during the 2019 World Juniors and the second was won while he was the head coach for Canada at the 2015 Spengler Cup.
Van Ryn enters the Maple Leafs coaching staff after five seasons as an assistant coach with the St. Louis Blues. The 44-year-old was a part of the Blues coaching staff in 2019 when they won the Stanley Cup.
Before St. Louis, Van Ryn spent two seasons in the Arizona Coyotes organization. One of those seasons was spent as the head coach (2017-18) for the Tucson Roadrunners, who he led to a first-place finish in the AHL's Pacific Division.
The 44-year-old also skated in 353 NHL games with 27 of them being with the Maple Leafs during the 2008-09 season.
Goaltending coach Curtis Sanford and video coaches Jordan Bean and Sam Kim will also remain with the team for this upcoming season.
