The Toronto Marlies continue to round out their roster and on Tuesday signed defenseman David Farrance to a one-year deal.
Farrance was a third-round pick (92nd overall) by the Nashville Predators in 2017 and made a name for himself in 2020 when he was named a Hobey Baker Award finalist after scoring 14 goals and adding 29 assists in 34 games in his junior year at Boston University.
The Predators signed Farrance to a two-year, entry-level contract in 2021, but he only played in two games with the NHL club throughout his tenure.
The 24-year-old Farrance is regarded as an offensive-defenseman who can move the puck and skates well. At 5'11" and 189 pounds, he could stand to add a bit more physicality to his game.
A player who can run any top power-play unit, don't be surprised to see Farrance on PP1 in some games with the Marlies this season.

In the summer of 2022, the Predators didn't tender Farrance a qualifying offer. He ended up signing an AHL deal with the Chicago Wolves. After 14 games, the team traded him to the Colorado Eagles where he found some success scoring twice and adding 17 assists in 31 games.
