The 2025-26 season schedule has been out for a little under a week now, and there are a few key dates to watch for. The Utah Mammoth have made some very good moves this off-season that should set themselves up for success. They also have some key dates that fans will be interested in viewing. With their improvements this summer, it should bring on more rivalry games, as well as more pressure-packed games down the stretch. Here are a few games to mark on your calendar as we slowly head toward the start of the NHL season.

The first key date is the season opener against the Colorado Avalanche on Oct. 9 at 7:00 P.M. MT. Obviously, this game is noteworthy because it kicks off the start of the season, where the Mammoth hope to get off to an early start and make the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

Oct. 11 at 6:00 P.M. MT is a game that will be loved by NHL fans around the league. The Mammoth will take on the Nashville Predators for the first time. Which is going to be deemed the Ice Age Game because of their logos and team names and the comparison to the Ice Age movie.

The next date to keep track of is the home opener against the Calgary Flames on Oct. 15 at 7:30 P.M. MT. This game is the first game back in Utah, which will give the fans a chance to see the new additions and just how good the team really is going to be.

Nov. 4 at 5:00 P.M. MT against the Buffalo Sabres is J.J. Peterka's return to Buffalo. Although his exit wasn't overly messy, it is one that fans of both teams will be naturally drawn to.

Next, Nov. 12 at 7:00 P.M. MT against the Sabres is the first time that Josh Doan and Michael Kesselring come to town after the big off-season trade. Like Peterka's return to Buffalo, their return to Utah will be one that is largely viewed by fans.

Dec. 10 at 8:00 P.M. MT against the Florida Panthers is the first time in the season that the defending Stanley Cup champions come to town. After winning back-to-back Cups, the Panthers are looking to defend it again. This is their first and only visit to Utah this season.

Jan. 1 at 1:00 P.M. MT is a New Year's Day matinee, where the Mammoth will take on the New York Islanders on the road. This will be their first time at UBS Arena, and second matchup of the season against first overall pick Matthew Schaefer.

Next up isn't a game, but the Olympic break that takes place from Feb. 5 to Feb. 25. Their last game is at home against the Detroit Red Wings. They will then have a three-week break before returning to action against the Avalanche.

Jan. 13 at 7:00 P.M. MT against the Toronto Maple Leafs is the first time that the Maple Leafs and Matias Maccelli come to Utah. While there isn't any rivalry between the two, it is the biggest hockey market in the NHL coming to town, which will bring in a ton of fans.

There are three games in March that should be circled. The first one is March 14 at 7:00 P.M. MT against the Pittsburgh Penguins. This will be the one and only time this season that NHL great Sidney Crosby will come to Utah, which will allow fans to see him live in their own backyard.

Another date to watch for is March 24 at 7:00 P.M. MT against the Edmonton Oilers. This game speaks for itself. It is the first time in the season that the league’s best player, Connor McDavid, comes to town. For fans of the game, to be able to see McDavid live in their home barn, it is one that they will be purchasing tickets to.

The last date in March is only two days later on March 26 at 7:00 P.M. MT against the Great 8, Alex Ovechkin, which very well could be his last time visiting Utah, in what could be his last NHL season. March is a busy month, but for the fans, they will get the honour to watch a few of the best NHL players in the last 20 years play.

The last game to circle is on April 16 at 6:00 P.M. MT against the St. Louis Blues, which is the last game of the 2025-26 season. This game could very well make or break their season, but the hope is that the season finale will just be the start of what comes next with the 2026 Playoffs.

There are a handful of more games that could be circled by Mammoth fans, including the first time Connor Bedard comes to town, or the young core on the San Jose Sharks, or even the return of Nick Bjugstad on Jan. 9.
