

The 2025 IIHF World Championships started yesterday and continued today. The Utah Mammoth have several players representing their countries, so let’s check in and see how they did over the first two days.
Starting off with Team USA, they took on Denmark and cruised to a 5-0 win. Michael Kesselring chipped in with two assists, and Logan Cooley scored the second goal of the game. Josh Doan and Clayton Keller didn’t register a point.
Next up, Karel Vejmelka and Team Czechia edged Switzerland 5-4 in overtime. Vejmelka got the start and stopped 16 of 20 shots. He finished the game with four goals against and a .800 save percentage.
Canada—who are likely the odds-on favorite to win the tournament—made quick work of Slovenia this morning, winning 4-0 behind an 11-save shutout. Dylan Guenther didn’t dress for Game 1.
Lastly, Maksymilian Szuber and Germany took care of business in a 6-1 win over Hungary, however, he didn’t register a point.
