Šilovs made 27 saves for the Vancouver Canucks in Game 4.

After backstopping the Vancouver Canucks to a Game 4 win, Artūrs Šilovs will be the starter for Game 5. Šilovs stopped 27 of the 30 shots he faced in his first career playoff game and will have a chance to send the Canucks to the second round with a win. This is just the 11th career NHL game, regular season and postseason for the 23-year-old, who comes into this game with a combined record of 7-2-1.

As for Casey DeSmith, he returns to the lineup and will serve as the backup in Game 5. DeSmith missed Game 4 due to a lower-body injury but still served as the team's EBUG (Emergency Backup Goaltender). In two games this postseason, DeSmith has a 1-1 record with a .911 save percentage and a goals-against average of 2.02.

While Vancouver advanced past the first round in 2020, a win in Game 5 would ensure second-round playoff hockey is played at Rogers Arena for the first time since 2011. The Canucks are 17-15 all-time in Game 5, with a record of 10-9 at home. Vancouver had also won four of their last five playoff games against the Nashville Predators going back to their second round series in 2011.
