As the 2024-25 season approaches, sites across the hockey world start putting out their predictions for the upcoming season. One of those sites is MoneyPuck.com, which recently published their odds for the 2025 Stanely Cup Playoffs. Unsurprisingly, the site is very high on the Vancouver Canucks, projecting another 100+ point season along with a 5.6% chance of finishing the season as Stanley Cup Champions.

MoneyPuck has the Canucks as a top-ten team in most categories. Their 80.4% of qualifying for the playoffs ranks seventh, while their 21.3% chances of winning the Pacific Division ranks eighth. As for their 5.6% Stanley Cup odds, that is tied for seventh with the Tampa Bay Lightning, with the only Western Conference teams ahead of them being the Edmonton Oilers, Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche. Of note, the 5.6% odds are the second highest among Canadian teams and come in just slightly ahead of the Toronto Maple Leafs, who sit at 5.1%.

According to MoneyPuck's site, these odds are determined: "By running a simulation of the rest of the NHL season 100,000 times we can create precise probabilities of the outcome of the season for each team. Each game is simulated using the probabilities from the pre-game prediction model discussed below. For games further into the future, the model scores are regressed to the mean to account for uncertainty."

Vancouver kicks off their 2024-25 campaign on October 9 versus the Calgary Flames. The Canucks are looking to win the division in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2012-13, when they won five straight Northwest Division titles. Puck drop for October 9 is scheduled for 7:00 pm PT from Rogers Arena.
