Arshdeep Bains missed the skills competition due to bad weather in the San Jose area.

Abbotsford Canucks forward Arshdeep Bains is set to miss the 2024 AHL All-Star Skill Competition after bad weather delayed his flight out of Abbotsford. According to Max Miller of The Hockey News, Bains, as well as San Jose Barracuda's Shakir Mukhamadullin, both played in the Canucks 3-2 victory over the Barracuda last night and were scheduled to arrive in San Jose this morning. That was not possible as the city declared a State of Emergency this morning as an atmospheric river-fueled storm swept through the area.

While both Bains and Mukhamadullin will miss the skills competition, they should make it in time for tomorrow's game. Both will be playing for Team Pacific in the four-team tournament set for Feb 5. Team Pacific will be looking for their second straight title as they defeated Team Atlantic 1-0 in last year's championship game. Bains will be making his first appearance at the All-Star Game after being selected as the Abbotsford Canucks representative in January. He was scheduled to participate in the fastest skater, pass and score and the breakaway relay at this year's skills competition.
