Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports - Canucks Centerman Voted Top-10 NHL Center By Players And Executives

Vancouver Canucks centerman Elias Pettersson was voted the 10th best center in the NHL, according to a vote done by NHL players and executives.

The top names that are expected are all there. Connor McDavid, No. 1, Nathan MacKinnon, No. 2, and Auston Matthews, No. 3. Rounding out the top ten was Pettersson.

Last season, in this same poll, Petterson appeared on eight ballots and did not finish within the top ten. This year, he finished on ten ballots and was ranked as high as No. 5.

"His highest ranking was fifth, given to him by an Eastern Conference executive and a Western Conference player," Greg Wyshynski wrote.

Tampa Bay Lightning center Brayden Point and Vegas Golden Knights star Jack Eichel were ranked in the two spots before Pettersson at No. 8 and 9. Even though this is how the votes came down, one executive had high praise for the Canucks center.

"I'd have Pettersson ahead of Point and Eichel," an executive said to Wyshynski.

Although not on the list, J.T. Miller finished in 11th. Like Pettersson, he was ranked as high as No. 5, this time on two ballots.

Quinn Hughes was ranked No. 2 on the same vote but for defensemen, with some controversy attached.
