Four of the Vancouver Canucks five wins this season have come on the road.

The Vancouver Canucks are ten games into 2024-25, and there has already been a season's worth of storylines. From the team's slow start on the power play to Kiefer Sherwood's quest to become the NHL hit king, there are plenty of encouraging and concerning trends through the first month of the season. One trend that has flown under the radar so far is Vancouver's ability to win on the road, compared to their inability to capture two points at Rogers Arena.
So far this season, the Canucks have played five games on the road and five games at home. In those ten games, they are 1-1-3 at Rogers Arena compared to 4-1-0 on the road. There is also a significant difference in goals for and against, with Vancouver having a positive goal differential on the road and a negative one at home. Below is a look at how different the stats are at Rogers Arena compared to on the road.

There have also been some interesting variations in time on ice depending on whether Vancouver is at home or on the road. For example, Quinn Hughes plays on average 2:30 more at Rogers Arena, while Tyler Myers plays 5:07 more on the road. Based on the success the Canucks have had on the road, these massive time differences are most likely a result of Vancouver being able to establish leads on the road and spending most of the third period defending rather than pushing for offence.
So far this season, the Canucks success and win totals have been the opposition of the 2023-24 campaign. Last year, the majority of Vancouver's success came at home, with the Canucks going 27-9-5 at Rogers Arena. While there is still plenty of time to match the same level of success at home as last season, Vancouver has put themselves in a hole early on in 2024-25.
Ultimately, the Canucks have been a better team on the road through the first ten games of the season. While having a strong record away from home is never a bad thing, their play and record so far at Rogers Arena has been concerning. With an impending six-game homestand in November, Vancouver needs to elevate their play at home to match the success they have had so far on the road.
