Canucks Place Filip Chytil On IR, Call-Up Ex-Maple Leafs Forward Jacob Quillan

Shortly after he missed practice on Friday, Vancouver Canucks forward Filip Chytil was put on injured-reserve, the team announced this afternoon. In a corresponding move, Vancouver has also called forward Jacob Quillan up from the AHL.

During Vancouver’s practice on Friday, a Canucks spokesperson confirmed that Chytil was being re-evaluated for an upper-body injury sustained during the 2026 pre-season. This injury kept him out of the start of the season, resulting in him making his season debut on October 15 against the Florida Panthers.

Joining the Canucks in Chytil’s place will be Quillan, who was acquired from none-other than the team Vancouver is set to face next — the Toronto Maple Leafs. Since joining Vancouver’s AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks, the forward has scored five goals and two assists in five games played.

Chytil has played in a total of seven games to start the 2026–27 season, registering two assists in that span of time. He is currently averaging 19:53 minutes played per game — over three minutes more than his career-high.
