Vancouver Canucks prospect Riley Patterson has been traded in the OHL. The 2024 fourth-round pick had requested a trade after spending the last two seasons with the Barrie Colts. In exchange for Patterson, the Colts received draft capital in the form of a 2026 second-round pick, a 2027 third-round pick, a 2027 sixth-round pick, a 2029 third-round pick and a 2029 fourth-round pick.

Last year, Patterson finished the regular season as Barrie's co-leader in points with 59 in 64 games. The 19-year-old center then posted 12 points in 16 playoff games. Since joining the OHL in 2023-24, Patterson has scored 54 goals and recorded 121 points in 132 games.

Patterson will be joining a Niagara team that is stacked with talent. The forward group includes Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Ethan Czata as well as Winnipeg Jets prospect Kevin He. Last season, the IceDogs finished seventh in the Eastern Conference before falling to the Colts in the first round of the post-season.
