After an impressive 2024-25 season, Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes has finished third in Norris Trophy voting. The winner this year was Colorado Avalanche's Cale Makar, who picked up 176 first-place votes. Hughes received two first-place votes while finishing with 918 voting points.

The James Norris Memorial Trophy is voted on by the Professional Hockey Writers Association and is awarded "to the defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position". Hughes won the trophy in 2024, after receiving 172 first-place votes. Hughes' voting breakdown this year was 2-39-110-21-12, which, as mentioned, was ranked third behind Makar and Columbus Blue Jackets' Zach Werenski.

Despite missing 14 games, Hughes finished the season with 60 assists and 76 points. He was Vancouver's MVP and held a 26-point gap over second place on the team. During the season Hughes also tied Alex Edler for the most points by a defenceman in franchise history, while also setting a new record for assists by a defender in Canucks history.
