The Fred J. Hume Award is given out to the team's unsung hero, as voted by the fans.

For the second consecutive season, Dakota Joshua has won the Fred J. Hume Award given to the team's unsung hero. Joshua joins Hilliard Graves, Rich Sutter, Steve Bozek and Martin Gelinas as the only players in Vancouver Canucks history to win the award in back-to-back seasons. Joshua leads the team with 235 hits and has set new career highs in goals, assists and points.
After a tough start to the season, Joshua has become one of Vancouver's most valuable players. He sits sixth on the team in goals with 18 and has developed into a critical penalty-killer for the Canucks. A pending unrestricted free agent at the end of the year, it is safe to say he is in line for a significant raise this offseason.
