Demko has missed the last 14 games with a knee injury.
After missing over a month with a knee injury, Thatcher Demko is expected to return to action Tuesday against the Calgary Flames. The Vancouver Canucks goaltender suffered the injury on Mar. 8 versus the Winnipeg Jets, which has sidelined him for the last 38 days. With only two games remaining in the regular season, the hope is he will have enough of a build-up so that he is back to 100% once the puck drops for the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Demko, who is projected to be a finalist for the Vezina Trophy, has had a superb 2023-24 regular season. He set career bests in almost every statistical category, and despite missing a significant part of the season, he still sits tied for seventh place in the NHL with 34 wins. While Vancouver has been able to pick up points in his absence, going 8-5-2 since Mar. 8, he has had a significant impact on the team and is one of the main reasons behind the Canucks success this season.
Tuesday's game against the Flames is the final home game of the regular season, as well as the annual Fan Appreciation Night. According to the organization, there will be plenty of giveaways, including select season ticket members receiving jerseys off the player's back at the end of the night. Vancouver will also be announcing team awards, including the Cyclone Taylor Trophy given out to the team MVP and the Pavel Bure Award handed out to the most exciting player.
