With the regular season coming to a close, the Vancouver Canucks will soon know who they will face in the first round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. While no date for Game 1 has been set, according to Elliotte Friedman via the 32 Thoughts Podcast, the Canucks could be starting their playoff run on Tuesday, April 23. While this would give Vancouver a few days off between the end of the regular season and the beginning of the postseason, it could cause some scheduling issues as Rogers Arena has some notable concerts already scheduled for the end of April and early May.

Using the one-off day after each game model, the Canucks schedule would look like this:

    Game 1- April 23 @ Rogers Arena
    Game 2- April 25 @ Rogers Arena
    Game 3- April 27 @ TBD
    Game 4- April 29 @ TBD
    Game 5- May 1 @ Rogers Arena
    Game 6- May 3 @ TBD
    Game 7- May 5 @ Rogers Arena

While this would be an ideal schedule, it would be impossible from Vancouver's side. On May 1, 21 Savage is in town, meaning Game 5 would need to take place on May 2. There is also a Justin Timberlake concert set for April 29, which could cause issues if the series were to start earlier.

Then you have the big issue, which is Pearl Jam, who have Rogers Arena booked from May 4-6. While they are only playing on May 4 and 6, it would be unfeasible to convert the arena back to hockey in between the two dates. This could cause a multi-day break if the series is pushed to Game 7, which in turn would cause scheduling issues for the start of Round 2.

As mentioned, nothing is official, but based on availability, the Canucks first-round schedule could look very odd. There are also additional factors, including travel, which could be upwards of four and a half hours each way if they face off against the Nashville Predators. While there are still a lot of logistics that need to be figured out, these booked concerts have the potential to make Vancouver's first-round matchup even more challenging.
