

After 17 seasons, former Vancouver Canucks forward Sam Gagner has announced his retirement. It didn't take long for the 35-year-old to find a new job, as he will be joining the Ottawa Senators as the Director of Player Development. This past season, Gagner played 19 games for the Belleville Senators and was Team Canada's captain at the Spengler Cup.

Of the 1,043 regular-season games Gagner played in the NHL, 81 of them came with Vancouver. He spent a season and a half with the Canucks, recording 11 goals and 34 points from 2017-19. Gagner's time with the organization came to a close on February 16, 2019, when he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers for Ryan Spooner.
During his career, Gagner also spent plenty of time making fans in Vancouver miserable. In 54 games, he recorded 23 assists and 30 points. Gagner also scored a game-winner against the Canucks on October 19, 2019 as a member of the Oilers.
