According to Thomas Drance and Rick Dhawali, Vancouver Canucks star goalie Thatcher Demko will miss all of training camp and the preseason.
Demko was injured in game one of the Stanley Cup playoffs against the Nashville Predators last season and could not return. Now, fear sets in that his injury will keep him out even longer.
There is optimism that he could be ready for the regular season opener, but that remains in question given this report.
The nature of the 2023 Vezina Trophy nominee's injury is still unknown. Some reports suggested that Demko tore his ACL, but nothing has been confirmed. The netminder was able to do some on-ice work during practice before the Canucks were eliminated from the playoffs.
"To this point, no one close to the situation will confirm whether or not Demko underwent a surgical procedure this summer," Drance wrote on The Athletic.
Only time will tell what Demko's availability will be.
