Welcome to The Weekly Rewind, a column published every Monday that recaps the past week of Vancouver Canucks hockey, including the team’s record, players with the highest stats, and more. This week, we’ll be looking at what the Canucks got up to from November 25 to December 1.

The Canucks were on their eastern road trip for the entire week, starting with a stop in Boston. Vancouver took on the Boston Bruins on Tuesday, November 26, and came away with a 2–0 win. In this game, Kevin Lankinen registered his second shutout of the season, making an impressive 33 saves.

In their second game of the week, the latter part of a back-to-back, the Canucks took on the Pittsburgh Penguins. Things didn’t look too great when Vancouver ended the first period down 4–1, and then fell to an even worse 5–1 deficit halfway through the game. However, they clawed back to make it a 5–4 game, falling just short of victory by the time the third period ended.

Friday afternoon’s matchup against the Buffalo Sabres proved to be a thriller, as Vancouver took the win in a 4–3 overtime victory. With two assists in this game, Quinn Hughes inched closer to breaking yet another franchise record as he tied Alex Edler’s record for assists by a defenceman.

As fans, players, and reporters alike poured themselves their first cup of coffee, the Canucks took to the ice to face the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday morning. Jake DeBrusk sealed the 5–4 win for Vancouver with a hat trick that included the game-winning goal in overtime. The victory clinched a record for Lankinen, who became the only goaltender in the history of the NHL to start with ten straight wins on the road.
