Former Vancouver Canucks defenceman and the pride of Richmond, B.C., Troy Stecher, has hit the 500-game mark for his NHL career. While Stecher has played for six NHL organizations, he remains a fan favourite in Vancouver, playing 286 of his 500 games in a Canucks sweater. Now, with the Edmonton Oilers, Stecher achieved the feat on November 25 during their game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Stecher remains a fan favourite in Vancouver for multiple reasons. Not only is he from the area and grew up cheering on the Canucks, but he is one of the hardest-working players in the league. Signed as an unrestricted free agent by Vancouver in 2016, the undersized defender now has 110 points and multiple Medals for Team Canada at the World Championship on his resume.

Despite no longer playing for the Canucks organization, Stecher still finds ways to help the community. This past August, he, alongside Kevin Bieksa, organized a pro charity hockey event in Richmond to support the Canadian Men's Health Foundation. The event also included multiple NHLers, including Dakota Joshua, Florida Panthers Sam Reinhart and Montreal Canadiens Brendan Gallagher.

So far this season, Stecher has played in six games for the Oilers and is averaging 16:13 of ice time. Some milestones he could cross this season include the 100-assist mark (currently at 91) and the 600-shot block mark (currently at 567). Fans in Vancouver will not have to wait much longer to watch Stecher play live, as Edmonton is in town on November 9 for the first of three matchups against the Canucks.
