Bob Frid-USA TODAY Sports - Quinn Hughes Is The Norris Trophy Favourite According to NHL.com

According to NHL.com, Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes is the favourite to win this Norris Trophy this season.

Hughes leads NHL defensemen in assists with 63, points with 76, and even strength points with 47. He is second in powerplay points with 30.

Hughes has been an elite defenseman all season long and a leader for the team in his first year as captain.

"Every year, I feel like you grow and learn, and each year presents some challenges. Obviously this year has been a little bit easier than most," Hughes said after practice on Tuesday. "You try to bring your best every game, but it's hard to do, and I'm going to sound redundant, but when you finish your game, good or bad, you just have to turn the page and move on to the next one."

He's scored big goal after big goal this season, including against the Vegas Golden Knights on March 7th.

According to BetMGM, Hughes has -350 odds to win the Norris Trophy. Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar is a distant 2nd with +210 odds.

The race will come down to these two as BetMGM has Evan Bouchard of the Edmonton Oilers and New York Islanders defenseman Noah Dobson at +2500 with the third-best odds.

This season marked Hughes' third straight season with at least 60 assists. He became just the fourth defenseman in NHL history to achieve that.

The the Canucks sitting in first place in the Western Conference, there shouldn't be a question of who deserves the Norris this season.

The Canucks take on Makar and the Avalanche tonight.
