Jerome Miron - USA TODAY Sports - Golden Knights Forward William Carrier Moved to IR; Kaedan Korczak assigned to Henderson

Vegas Golden Knights forward William Carrier was placed onto injured reserve, the team announced on Wednesday.

This comes as no surprise as Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said they would be without the forward’s services for a little while.

Carrier, who set a career-high in goals last season, has five goals and two assists this season.

In another move, the Golden Knights sent down Kaedan Korczak to their AHL affiliate, Henderson.

Korczak has played well in his time with the Golden Knights. He has one goal and six assists.

The move leaves Vegas with nine practicing defensemen.

“It’s good to see guys coming back and that’s always a good sign,” Vegas defenseman Brayden McNabb said Tuesday.

Though the move might come as a surprise to some, Korczak is non-waivers eligible, meaning Vegas can move him down to Henderson without having Korczak clear waivers.

Lukas Cormier also is waiver exempt, while Brayden Pachal, Daniil Miromanov, and Tobias Bjornfot would all need to clear waivers to be sent down to Henderson.

There will be some difficult decisions to make once the blue line gets fully healthy, but Korczak’s move makes sense, and it was the first move that corresponds with the depth of the Golden Knights’ defensemen corps.
