Vegas will play five games in eight nights to start off final push to postseason.
The Vegas Golden Knights enter the final stretch of the season, starting Saturday against the Carolina Hurricanes. After the recent four days without a game, the Golden Knights will be playing games regularly with Saturday’s tilt against the Hurricanes starting five games in eight nights.
“We’ve had a chance to get a little bit of rest. It’s just take it one game at a time,” Vegas goalie Adin Hill said. “If we’re worried about Monday or Tuesday tomorrow night, it won’t go too well. It’s about taking it day by day and doing what your body needs and get ready for the next one.
Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said the team benefitted from the long break to get the “flu” bug out of the room and start getting players back to health. As for whether or not the four days between games will benefit the team on Saturday against Carolina, he won’t know until the team takes the ice.
“A coach always likes to have time to practice when you feel your team needs it,” Cassidy said. “We did simply because we came out of the break and we had eight days off, so no matter how we played in those games, we probably wanted to get back to work a little bit. So hopefully that’s a positive.”
Hill looks forward to the home stretch where games will be coming fast and hard, mostly because it keeps him in a routine. After this stretch of five games in eight nights, the Golden Knights will not have more than two consecutive game nights off.
“It’s nice, but I’ve always found the more you play the more you get into a rhythm,” Hill said. “It’ll be nice to play three, four games a week. It’ll be nice and I’m excited to get to playing hockey more.
Hill has been nothing less than great since his return against on Jan. 26 against the New York Islanders. Prior to the Minnesota game, where gave up four goals, he had not allowed more than two goals in the four previous starts.
Hill is 4-1 in his last five games.
“I feel like I’m playing decent. I thought last game against Minnesota, I could have been a little bit better,” Hill said. “You’re not going to be great every night, so I just have to bounce back from that and be ready for the upcoming games.”
