Salt Lake City has been in the headlines recently after Smith Entertainment Group, the parent company of the NBA's Utah Jazz, formally requested that the National Hockey League initiate an expansion process for the purpose of bringing an NHL team to Utah.
The game will be marketed as the Frozen Fury as part of an extension of an agreement between the team and the Delta Center that began in 2021.
The Kings will also play two pre-season games in Quebec City at Videotron Centre on Oct. 3 and Oct. 5 against Boston and Florida, respectively.
The Golden Knights are of course the second most recent expansion franchise and bringing the Golden Knights to Salt Lake City could spark even more interest for the NHL and their thoughts of league expansion. The current delays with the new Arizona Coyotes arena brings more intrigue and question marks about what the NHL could be planning.
