Former Vegas Golden Knight Phil Kessel has not yet signed with the Vancouver Canucks. But he is in town to skate.

The three-time Stanley Cup champion will work out with the Canucks AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks.

Kessel was a part of the Golden Knights team that won the Stanley Cup last season despite playing a small role in the playoffs. Kessel has a history with Rick Tocchet and Jim Rutherford, while playing for Pittsburgh, where he won back-to-back championships.

The Golden Knights are currently chasing their division rival for first place in the Pacific division. If Kessel were to sign, he would add another efficient goal scorer for the Canucks.

His last game was on April 24th, 2023, against the Winnipeg Jets in the first round of the playoffs, so working out in Abbotsford will help get into game shape while the Canucks continue their season.
