Ben Hemmerling has 66 points in 50 games in the Western Hockey League with Everett.

Golden Knights prospect Ben Hemmerling isn’t focused on too much at the moment other than improving his game with the Everett Silvertips.

“I’m just focused on playing the game right,” he said. “I’m just doing what I can with the puck and I’m getting the bounces too. It works like that, you get hot, you get cold streaks. I’m just riding it out here.”

Hemmerling has been hot often in the Western Hockey League. He has 66 points in 50 games (20 goals, 46 assists). He’s also an off-ice value as he is one of Everett’s co-captains. In three seasons with the Silvertips, he’s increased his point production each year.

“Ben has continued to get better. He’s put on the right kind of weight,” Golden Knights director of player development Wil Nichol said. “He likes the shoot the puck. He’s hard to play against because of his pace of play.”

The Hockey News’ Western Hockey League writer Adam Kierszenblat said Hemmerling could be a “late-round steal” for the Golden Knights.

“Hemmerling has developed into a dominate player at the WHL level. Taking on a leadership role as one of Everett's co-captains, he can beat defenders wide and isn't afraid to drive the net to create a chance,” Kierszenblat said. “He is also a very intelligent player that can create offensive chances through both his shot and playmaking ability. If he can continue to develop the way he has been since being drafted, Vegas could be looking at a late round steal that plays a valuable bottom six role in the future.”
