Robert Edwards - USA TODAY Sports - Pietrangelo out for the Golden Knights tonight

Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Alex Pietrangelo has been ruled out for tonight’s game against the Anaheim Ducks.

Pietrangelo took a puck to the head off of a Nicoals Hague shot in the third period of the Golden Knights’ 4-1 victory against the San Jose Sharks.

“He didn’t feel great,” Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said. “List him as day-to-day for now and hopefully he comes around. Right now, he’s out tonight.”

Kaedan Korczak will play in Pietrangelo’s place, alongside Nicolas Hague. The duo played in one game for the preseason together.

“I showed up this morning and my name’s on the board. Sucks for ‘Petro,’ you never want see someone of his caliber go down like that,” Korczak said. “I’m ready to help out the team for sure..”

The team will be using its ninth defenseman this season. Thankfully, for the Golden Knights, they have a lot of organizational depth the position.

Cassidy said he doesn’t have a specific message to the players coming in to fill roles. Rather he expects them to play their best and help the team win.

“Do your job. It’s an opportunity,” Cassidy said. “You know you’re in. You’re in for a reason. Help us win.”
